The right way of configuring your Linux to work with Ivacy depends on Linux distribution you use. It's almost impossible to cover all distros, graphical environments and VPN frontends out there; this is why we provide you with instructions and screenshots of setting up an Ivacy acount using Ubuntu Linux, one of most widespread distros out there.

If you use different distro, please consult with developers and maintainers of your distro.

Please note!

To use the following step-by-step instruction you need to install network-manager-pptp package. Use the package manager provided with your distro to find and install it.

  1. Click on network icon. In the dropdown menu choose VPN Connections → Configure VPN.
  2. Press Add.
    Select Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and click Create.
  3. Connection Name: Ivacy VPN
    Gateway: pptp.ivacy.com
    Type your user name and password you chose for registration in Ivacy

    Press Advanced.
  4. Important Note

    pptp.ivacy.com is the default server address, the closest one to your location.

    Hovewer, you can use the following addresses to specify the country you want to be seen from:

    pptp-ru.ivacy.com - Russia
    pptp-uk.ivacy.com - United Kingdom
    pptp-nl.ivacy.com - Netherlands
    pptp-us.ivacy.com - United States
  5. Check Use Point-to-Point encryption (MPPE) and Allow stateful encryption.

    Press OK and Apply.
  6. Click on network icon. In the dropdown menu choose VPN Connections → Ivacy VPN.
    If for some reason Ivacy VPN is not visible in the dopdown menu, please get back to Step 3 and check Available to all users.
  7. Press Always Allow.
