IPSec connection setup for Windows 7

Using IPsec protocol

IPSec — not as widely supported, a bit more complicated to set up but quite secure.

  1. Press the Start button and choose Control Panel from the menu.
  2. In the Control Panel window choose View network status and tasks.
  3. Choose Set up a new connection or network.
  4. In the next Connect to a Network window choose Connect to a workplace and click Next.
  5. In the Connect to a workplace window choose the Use my Internet connection (VPN) option. Click Next.
  6. If you are not connected to the Internet at the moment, you'll be offered to connect. Connect to the Internet.
  7. Enter ipsec.ivacy.com in the Internet address field, and Ivacy VPN as Destination name. Check Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later and click Next.
  8. Now type your login and password (those which you used for registration in Ivacy).
  9. In the Network and Sharing Center click Change adapter settings.
  10. Right click on the Ivacy VPN connection and choose Properties.
  11. In the dialog window choose the Security tab and choose Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPSec (L2TP/IPSec). Click Advanced Settings.
  12. In the Advanced Settings window choose Use preshared key for authentication and type ciscokey into the box. Click OK in the Advanced settings window. Click OK in the Ivacy VPN Properties window.
  13. Double click on the Ivacy VPN connection and click Connect.
